Informational Speech:

This is an example of my informational speech on Peyton Manning. I had to make sure that I not only appealed to the football fans in the audience, but also to those who didn't know as much about the sport or Peyton Manning.

Introduction to Human Communication:

This course provided my first glance into the field of communication. It was all about getting comfortable with discussing any topic with the people around you. We learned how to tailor our speeches to our audience in order to understand how to communicate differently with different people. Depending on the environment and the people you are communicating with, they may or may not be interested in the topic you are discussing. The most important skill I learned in this class was how to get my audience interested in what I had to say.

Introduction to Public Speaking:

This course focused on learning the proper way to speak in front of people in order to make sure you present yourself in the best, most confident manner. This includes vocal techniques, physical appearance, and mental preparedness. The most important takeaway I have from this course is how to showcase my confidence through my vocal patterns. This includes the tone of my voice and the cadence of my voice. Ultimately, I found that be more prepared I was for my speeches, the more likely I was to speak with vocal confidence.

Communication Pro-Seminar

This course was very focused on showcasing your communication skills. It forced us to look back on the courses we have taken and recognize the skills we have learned. The most important skills I learned from this course is how to use technology to demonstrate my knowledge. This course will greatly benefit my career in communications because it forced me to combine all of my skills into one course as well as bring all of my work into one final website that can continue to be updated as my career continues.

For this assignment, we were tasked with developing a media campaign and we had to write a press release that we would release to the public to make them aware of the new program.

Mass Media

This course was dedicated to understanding all of the channels through which we receive media messages. We talked about television, radio, print media, and even video games and how they differ from each other in the way the public understands their content. As communication majors, it is our job to communicate information to the public. This course showed us the best ways to communicate through the different media channels as well as how to decide which media channel is the most efficient for the information you are trying to communicate.

Interpersonal Communication

This course was all about learning the proper way to communicate with people not only in person, but also online. We focused on argument resolution and how our listening and speaking skills can greatly influence the course of an argument. One of the most important skills I learned from this course was how to utilize the "Pillow Method." This involves taking a step back from and argument and practicing seeing a stance from all perspectives. This is an important skill because it allows us to dissolve arguments faster and more efficiently.
